Hi Guys
I had a blast in Quebec. It was cold (the excess snow sitting around town was crazy) and windy (see new video in video tab above), but as the very nice waitress at lunch said, tomorrow is going to be rainy but no wind, so you can have one or the other. She also said the weather doesn't matter if you surround yourself with good company. The old town area where I was staying is so cool, if you took the cars out of the pics you wouldn't know what century you were in and the only way you know you're not in Paris is the lack of dog poop on the ground and rude Frenchmen.
I took pictures of a few things including the most photographed hotel in the world The Château Frontenac (according to Guinness world records), which I believe translates as "the hotel at the front". Speaking of translating, I finally found some french words I could understand, I never knew I could read french? The lunch I had was gorgeous, it was a Quebec dish called poutine (poot-IN). The one I had was a duck confit variation, but usually the dish is just fries, cheese curds and brown gravy. Mine also had peas on top which didn't spoil it and then i washed that down with a beautiful slice of pecan/caramel New York Cheese cake. Best meal I have had off the cruise ship so far this trip.
I took the train up here from Montreal and will take it back and I have to say it is much better than traveling by coach, I loved it. The scenery was gorgeous, however there were no barriers between the highway and the train tracks, so they must have a lot of faith in the cars and trucks staying on their side of the measly grass buffer between the two. I can't wait to explore Montreal and Toronto (the only other places I'm going in Canada), plus eat as much poutine as I can possibly poutine my belly.
Stay well
David
