Hi guys
I made it to Detroit at 2130. I had heard mixed reports about how safe the downtown area was after dark, so I was initially going to splurge on a taxi, then I reneged and was going to take a bus. However once I got into town I realised how nice it actually was (as pictured) and walked the 3 kilometres to my motel. Detroit is just across the river from Canada, in the pic with the two buildings in it lit up in red you can see how close. Close enough to smell the maple syrup and free healthcare. As I said in a previous post I was going to go out to the Ford Museum. However, the first strike was that I’m a Holden man through and through, the second strike was a six USD carpark fee that was mandatory, with no way to delete it from your online shopping cart (despite me bussing in). The third strike occurred after getting all gussied up and walking out onto the street to catch the bus to the museum to try and buy tickets there without the parking fee, it started spitting to rain. I turned around and hopped back in bed for the day, so unfortunately, sorry no ford photos. For Eminem fans, he had his first gigs in the basement of St Andrews Hall, I did want to get a picture in front of the 8 Mile trailer park sign, but see above for why that didn’t occur.
Stay cool guys
David
