Firstly why is a name of a city that has Minne in it so long? Its in the same vein as why is abbreviation such a long word? Anyhoo unfortunately, it was too cold to venture out and explore Minneapolis. What I did see of it was cool (no pun intended). It is a city setup for snow as the CBD has an integrated network of enclosed heated bridges connecting most buildings called the Sky-walk. As you can see from the picture it covers most of the CBD and connects everything of importance in one easy to use network without ever having to step outside as it also connects major parking structures. Also pictured is the Lobby area of my first night’s accommodation in town at the Double-tree Inn and Suites by Hilton. When I was planning this trip, I knew I would be arriving into town at 0030 after a 12hr bus ride from Rapid City so I splurged and got a five-star room close to the bus station. I was greeted with 2 complimentary bottles of water, a warm choc chip cookie and a fabulous room that had a bathroom that was bigger than my whole cabin on the cruise. Also, the noon checkout time was awesome too. In the morning, I reluctantly checked out and made my way to a 2 star Days Inn to finish the rest of my 3-night stay in town.
