I hit rapid city and hired a nice Hyundai Sonata to drive out to the Black Hills and the Mt Rushmore Memorial in (cheaper than a tour bus and no public transport to it). It was a bit hard driving though because some Muppet's put the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car (plus the bloody "handbrake" was actually activated by a foot pedal near the stop and go pedals) and there were soooo many bozos traveling on the wrong side of the road. I made it there safely though and got some great pics of the presidents and some mountain goats who were almost as hairy as me. There was snow cover on the ground at the Monument site so the trails to get you closer to the faces were closed whilst I was there. Also unfortunately May is when the tourist season opens so places like Rushmore Cavern tours (ala Jenolan Caves), a drive through bear sanctuary (ala Forrest Glenn), a luge on rails ride and basically all the fun touristy stuff I would of done in the area were closed. But oh well saved my moola. I hope everyone is good at home? I'm great, loving the trip so much I won't want to come home in October. I'm headed to Minneapolis for the weekend, talk soon
